Speed Stack

Speed cup stacking has been around for years.  At AEEC we introduce this game by using larger buckets.  This insures a higher level of success rate for our 5 and 6 year olds.  The concept is to take a stack of cups and build different types of pyramids using a left then right hand sequence.  During the lesson we use video to help demonstrate to the students.  Try it with your child at home!!  All you need is a stack of cups and your ready to go!

Thank you Auburn Fire Department!!

Today we had some special guest come to AEEC and teach us about fire safety.  The Auburn Fire Department talked about the importance of having a pre-fire plan that everyone in the family knows.  In the plan should be things such as knowing which exit to use, your address for 911, and a safe place for family members to meet.  We also got to practice the correct way to exit a smokey room.  Get Low and check the door for heat!  Check it out!!

Getting Technical!!!

AEEC is incorporating technology into it's Physical Education program to help engage students. Technology is an integral part of life and will become increasingly so in the future. As teachers and society become more comfortable with various technologies, it is likely that technology will be implemented in all areas of the educational curriculum.  Even within Physical Education.
We have been exploring the implementation of various technologies for quite a long time. The explosion of the Internet has inspired teachers to use web technology to access resources, connect to professional organizations, engage in communication, and supplement class materials. Early versions of technology adopted by physical educators have aided in tasks such as grading, tracking attendance, creating learner profiles, and supporting instruction.  At AEEC, we are starting to incorporate videos, youtube clips, pedometers, ipads, laptops, and Wii games to help dirve instruction and bridge the gap between physical education and the digital world.  We are "Electrifying Student Learning"!!!

Volleying!!!!

Take a look at a fun and easy way to practice volleying with your kid!  No need to go and get an expensive volleyball that is sure to break something if used in the house.  With just an ordinary balloon, you can have fun for hours.  Try saying the alphabet as you alternate turns back and forth with your child.  You guys will be getting all the way to the letter Z in no time!!!
